“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.” - Dr. Seuss
Last month, a cardboard cutout of Danny DiVito appeared in the window across from my place, waving at me every day. I believe everything happens for a reason but couldn’t quite pin a reason on this one.
Last Thursday, I was driving on a country road an hour north of Seattle and noticed all the young trees and began to imagine how many trees the early 1900s logging wiped out in the area. Stumptown coffee is a not so subtle reminder. I wondered if Dr. Seuss had been inspired by the Pacific Northwest when he wrote The Lorax.
On Friday, the city, which has been working on leveling the sidewalk across the street from me, chopped down one of two trees I have a direct view of. I was immediately saddened when I woke to this and have already been impacted by increased light and noise from the club it stood in front of.
Yesterday, Saturday, it randomly came to my attention that Danny DiVito is the voice of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax in the 2012 movie, so I just watched it.
Now I know why Danny has been waving at me from across the street. Plant trees and save the forests 🌲
